Hiya
You will be aware that we are busy raising money under the mantle of Folk For Steve to provide facilities for Steve Onley, Bromsgrove Committee Member, soundman for club and festival. Steve has been rendered paralysed from the chest down following routine surgery. We have so far raised nearly £6,000 putting on concerts, a quiz and a barn dance.
The good people of The Woodman Folk Club from Kingswinford put on a concert that raised another £400plus - our grateful thanks to them.
Colin Grantham, club and festival regular and organiser of Moira Furnace Folk Festival, has written a book of monologues, both humorous and serious, and his wife, Rosie painted an original for the cover. The book is A5 in format with about 20/24 pages and a coloured cover. Copies of the book are still on sale (minimum donation £4 to cover costs)see here.
Rosie’s original watercolour has been auctioned , at the Club and sold for £83.
Thank you for reading this far - if you have any projects that you think may help our cause please let us know. Nothing is too big or too small - coffee mornings to concerts, perhaps you are about to run a marathon (or less) and need a cause to be sponsored for.
I know I can rely on the good people of, in and around Bromsgrove Folk Club to come up with the goods so, over to you.

Steve is now out of hospital and settling into life in a wheelchair at home with his family but our work is not yet over.
Steve's wife Carol composed and read out the following poem at the club on Thursday 8th Sept and I thought I'd like to share it with you...
Open arms and outstretched hands
Phone calls, visits, songs from bands
Quiz nights, song nights, sponsored walks,
Concerts, fun and many talks,
Our club so special, a family of folk
Supporting Steve, and amazing bloke
There are so many thank-yous for to share
For the love and affection and deepest of care,
A passage of time with an unknown end
Our folk club family, our thanks we send
Helping Steve through rehabilitation
You have had no reservation
Encouraging, supporting, providing care,
Has help-ed so much to know you're there
Your love, compassion, friendship and fun
Makes Bromsgrove Folk Club number one
Our time together in this place
Is not a shallow empty place
But one so special with friends we treasure
Thank you. Your friendship is our pleasure.
God bless you one and all.
Look after one another
